I remember too that I was always fascinated and frightened by "the all-seeing eye" in the triangle behind the altar at the old church. Albert C. Sporleder...died in 1946...my great-grandfather. I have a picture of he and little grandma on my wall at home. My mother Esther Sporleder was only 5 when he passed away. She too has a childhood memory of the event, though she is not fond of it.
