    3. I would be interested in hearing about the days, months, weeks, years leading up to the sale of some of the farmlands that are now where woodfield and Pure Oil/Unicoal/Roosevelt University are now... what were the thoughts of the farmers. what did the village do to promote the woodfield mall... what were the farmers told... were these some VERY happy with it or VERY opposed to it.... did the farmers think they received a fair price... did some receive some traded lands as a result of this 'purchase' and if so, where were these places... how long after a sale, did it take for the mall people to TAKE POSSESSION? were there farm auctions as part of the possession process? was the process more of a group process of individual do you agree or disagree that the advent of woodfield was a major turningpoint for the township.... this is information that cannot be found in newspapers... we need the thoughts of those who WERE THERE or who HEAR talk to tell us their opinions and information.... Pure Oil, tho first in the area was not as pivotal as WOODFIELD... I personally see several eras of the township... - the pre 1840 era when lands were settled or perhaps only purchased by investors, their legal definition not yet firm (because the township was not yet defined or sectioned... - the 1850 era when the township was sectioned and named and had a countable/platable population - the 1875 era when we know that there were businesses in the Center based on a map with a centre sketch.... - the 1890 when we have little knowledge of the businesses (so far) that replaced those that existed in 1875 era.... -the 1900 era when schaumburg road / easy street was developed of non-farmers or ex-farmers -the VILLAGE/preWOODFIELD era, the 1945-1960 when the village was created and development of outsider businesses was encouraged.... -1970 era when the office buildings exploded and the village began to consider services for residents other that just the necessities for safety - 2000 era when the available land masses for development were limited
