    1. [ILckSCH] finding oldie moldie addresses from LISTS BOARDS and wolrd connects HOWTOS

    3. Subject: finding oldie moldie addresses from LISTS BOARDS and wolrd connects HOWTOS here are some thoughts about trying to fine a new address for one that is now invalid... it is sad when one finds a post that is of interest an the email address no longer works. here are some ideas... 1. look further on the source that you have originally found the entry.. if you are looking in messages of 2000, then browse thru 2001 and 2002 for similar subject or go thru interactive search with similar names.. also make a post to the others who might have responded to your person's email. they might have had recent contact. 2. do interactive search on the list you found that name on. Search the email address that is OLD. they might have made an address change post.. thru browse get to any of these messages of interest,.. see if anyone else has responded to them... write to those people about your lost person they might have had recent contact. 3. while there, read some of that persons posts. find other lists that they might be on... surnames lists and locale lists!!! check there too.. via interactive searches and browse and postings 4. make posts to the surname lists - at least a primary surname, stating that you are looking for suchNsuch person about suchNsuch surname. 5. go to a common ancestor ssdi and put in a postem with your contact info on it and look for postems by that old address. there might be one there with a better address. 6. go to world connect. follow it thru to the surnames that might be shared by your elusive person and yourself. see if there have been submissions by this person check each different submittor.. they may be of the current address or not. 7. check for web sites for this persons surnames on google.com. put together a string of names that you know are linked (this based on the mailing lists posts you reviewed and the message boards posts you reviewed) as so: smith +jones +elllis +rhodes + etcetcetc and see if the person has created a web site either on or off rootsweb 8. while on the worldconnects, for those that are of interest to you, be sure to make a postem of YOUR contact info 9. I have always thought that a rootsweb BEFORE/AFTER ADDRESS LIST would be nice.. a list where there would be one line of info enough for the old address and the new address each required perhaps in a form for entry without subscription with no mailing - so no reply to or thread and with a searchable and browsable but single level archives.. any post over one line goes bye bye. it would be great.. it would need only a space positioned in each of the addresses to make the address safe from MINING! 10. make a telephone call.. check your favorite online telephone directory and make a call.. valentine
