Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago. Born Sept. 13, 1912, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Lewis and Marie (nee Levin) Miller, she passed away Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2005, at her home with family at her side. Marie was graduated from Stevens College in Columbia, Mo. After college, Marie got a job at the Aetna Bank in Chicago, where she not only experienced a bank robbery committed by the infamous "Baby Face" Nelson, but met her future husband, James Maltman Jr. They were married in 1947, and lived in Arlington Heights and Fish Creek, Wis. Marie was a co-founder of the Clearbrook Center in Rolling Meadows in the mid-1950's. Today the center serves hundreds of children and adults with special needs in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Three and a half years ago she moved to Egg Harbor, wi! th her eldest daughter, Taya. Marie loved to knit, garden, and work crossword puzzles. She also sang in choirs over the years. Survivors include her children, Taya Maltman of Egg Harbor, James (Marianne) Maltman of Winnetka, Ill. and Elizabeth Maltman of Fish Creek; grandchildren, Cyrus of Sun Prairie, Wis., Lauren (Josh) Vanderberg of Chicago, and Jamie, Nell, and Clare of Winnetka; sister, Grace (Russell) Winter of Jamestown, N.Y.; niece, Penny (George) Khoury of Palatine; and nephew, Mark Winter of Homestead, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ellen; and brother, Lewis. Memorials may be made to the Sunshine House Capital Fund. For information, 920-743-5635.
