    3. Longtime Dist. 211 official buried By Chad Brooks Daily Herald Staff Writer Posted Wednesday, August 03, 2005 ADVERTISEMENT Friends and family remembered Buren Moore, a former summer school principal and teacher in Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211, during his recent funeral services. Moore, 93, was buried Thursday in Albion, Ill., after dying July 23 at the Rosewood Care Center in Inverness. Born July 5, 1912, in Ellery, Ill., Moore went on to graduate from Albion High School and began his teaching career at a one-room schoolhouse in southern Illinois, where he taught kids in kindergarten through the eighth grade . "He came from very humble country roots," said Patricia McKown, Moore's daughter. McKown said her father began his career at Palatine High School in 1957 as a mathematics teacher, and later served as the district's summer school principal for several years. "He also moonlighted by driving a school bus before and after school, and then he stocked the shelves at Jewel in the evenings," McKown said. He retired in 1971 after 39 years as a school teacher or administrator. "He really liked young people," McKown said of one reason she thought her father stayed in the education field for so long. "He really liked going to all of the high school activities." While he didn't have much free time while teaching, after retiring, McKown said, Moore spent his time playing golf and woodworking, going as far as to build his own grandfather clock, cabinets and dollhouses for his kids. During his life, McKown said Moore was forced to deal with the deaths of his first wife, Mary Jo Byrne, his second wife, Waneta Bosecker and his daughter, Kathryn Moore. "He was a very strong man," McKown said. Buren is survived by his three children, Patricia (Paul) McKown of Palatine; Gary Moore of Sawyerville, Ill.; and Donald (Barb) Moore of Carpentersville; four stepchildren, Dan Bosecker, Don Bosecker, Kay Peach, and Karen McCormick; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, six brothers and one daughter. Moore has requested memorials be made to the Bethel Church Cemetery Fund, the Golden Gate United Methodist Church or the Albion Senior Center.
