Subject: SJCA eNews - May 15, 2006 (L2) St. Johannes Cemetery Alliance (SJCA) eNews May 15, 2006 UPDATE: On May 5th, lawyers representing St. John's United Church of Christ (UCC), and the villages of Bensenville and Elk Grove, presented their oral arguments before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. A number of questions were raised by the court panel of judges, all being directed to both sides of the legal suit. Our representative attorneys felt that the proceedings that day went well, but there was really no way to even begin to speculate as to which side the court judgment will rule in favor of. With no discernment on which way the decision will lean, we are, again, in a period of waiting patiently for a judgment to be rendered. It is a time for continued prayer, as we seek an honest and fair hearing from the court. As soon as word is received in reference to a ruling, we will be sure to get the information out to all our supporters on this list. A couple of reminders from our last issue of the SJCA eNews: Reference the cases in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals (DC) and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (CHI) - "Even if the City is the victor in both cases, there is always the possibility of appeal." Until court decisions are made, St. Johannes Cemetery is still under the care and direction of St. John's UCC. And, "In the meantime, we encourage you to remain vigilant and continue to visit your loved ones, when you are able. Your continued prayers for St. John's United Church of Christ, Bensenville, the families involved, and the Church's legal representatives, will be greatly appreciated."
