"Millie" Ruth of Huntley Funeral services for Mildred M. "Millie" Ruth, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St., Huntley, with Dr. Walter I. Thyng officiating. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday, at the church. Born Nov. 17, 1925, on the family farm in Coral Township, the daughter of William and Olga (nee Krause) Hartmann, she passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in her home. Millie was valedictorian of the 1943 graduating class of Huntley High School. She married Howard C. Ruth on Sept. 3, 1945, and they operated a dairy farm in Huntley. They sold peaches in the summer, Christmas trees in the winter, and eggs all year round. They purchased the Huntley Dairy Mart in the early 1960's, where they used homegrown beef to make their own burgers. Millie worked at Union Special for over 30 ye! ars, all the while assisting her husband with bookkeeping and secretarial duties for Grafton Township. Following her husband's sudden passing in 1977, Millie continued as secretary and treasurer throughout the 1980's until being elected supervisor in 1993. She oversaw the establishment of the Grafton Towhship Food Pantry and also served as the Executive Director of the Huntley Chamber of Commerce during Huntley's growth sprout. She also served for 26 years as a director of the First National Bank of Marengo. In addition to her community duties, she was a member of the First Congregational Church and the church's ladies organization, Celas, and also as a former deacon. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Huntley. Surviving are her three children, Chuck (Helen) Ruth of Huntley, Bill (Mary Helen) Ruth of Woodstock and Penny (Russ) Warner of Huntley; six grandchildren, Brad (Sheila) Tharp, Stacy (Brent) Schroeder, Scott, Anthony, Eric and Emily Ruth; two s! tepgrandchildren, Jeff and Jamie Lidinsky; four great-grandchildren; a nd two sisters, Frances (Del) Borhart of Marengo and Gwynneth Abts of Genoa. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant siblings; a brother, Henry Hartmann; a sister, Florence Schwab; and a grandson, Jason Tharp.
