    3. Fred and Mary (Maria Pollworth) were my great grandparents. They had four sons and one daughter. The sons were Fred, Henry, August, and Herman. The only daughter was Sophia. She was born in Addison Township (Putten Hill) on Dec. 8, 1858. She married William (Wilheim) Pfingsten on April 2, 1880 at St. Peters in Schaumburg. When her brother Henry (my grandfather) died of a heart attack in 1901, William Pfingsten took care of the money matters and the estate for my Grandmother (Sophie Fedderke Thies) as she was widowed with 5 children (ages 1-9). Sophia's brother August Thies came to run the farm for the family until Henry and Sophie's sons (Henry and William) were old enough to farm on their own. Fred and Mary lived in a second house on the farm that Henry and Sophie had, so Fred could advise his grandsons as they took over the farming operation. There is a picture of the family on Hyperion of the Schaumburg Township Library under Local History. Sophia and William Pfingsten took in my great-grandmother Mary (Maria Pollworth) when she was too old and frail to live by herself. Sophia Pfingsten died on April 5, 1947 at Catherine Hospital in Palatine, IL. She is bured at St. Peters as are two of her brothers (Henry and Herman). This can also be verified in the Dear Cousin 2000 book, Volume 2, page 478. Thank you for asking for my credentials and information. I appreciate getting the facts correct for all future reference.
