"Roy" Gieseke, 82, a lifelong resident of the Crystal Lake-Marengo areas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St., Marengo. Pastor Glenn Borhart and Vicar Jeffrey Frakes will officiate. Burial will follow in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday, at the church. Born Jan. 7, 1924, the son of Louis C. and Martha (nee Zink) Gieseke, he died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at the Biltmore Rehab and Nursing Center in Belvidere. On June 15, 1946, in Union, Roy married Alice D. Bloedorn. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Marengo, was a lifelong farmer and head custodian for 15 years at Marengo Community High School. Survivors include his sons, Dennis L. (Linda), Jerry A. (Chris), Roger L. (Wanda) and Brian C. Gieseke; grandchildren, Jill (Chad) Olson, Brad J. Gieseke, Brett (Sarah) Gieseke, Quinn, Michelle and April Gieseke, Autumn (Marc) Belcher, Ryan (Rhonda) Gieseke and Jeremy (Kasey) Gieseke; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Carter Olson, Ethan and Hayden Gieseke and Avery Belcher; his sister, Evelyn Luethje; and brothers, Russell (Phyllis) Gieseke and Ken (Lucille) Gieseke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alice, on Dec. 20, 2005; brothers, Vernon Gieseke and Lewis Gieseke; sister, Gloria Gieseke; and his grandchildren, Philip and Amy Gieseke. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Zion Lutheran School Building Fund. Arrangements were made by Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee, 847-426-3436.
