Dear mailing-list-members, my name is Nils-Christoph Fiedler, I´m from Germany. I am 23 years old and study Political Science at the University of Munich. Originally I am from Hanover. My Grandfather, Heinrich Christoph Willi Pfingsten, died in 1998. His mother´s name was "Engel Marie Sophie Wille". Both lived in a village called "Ohndorf". It´s in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony. Some of my ancestors emigrated to the USA round about 1850. Through my investigation, finding american descendants of my ancestors, I got to know a woman named Karen S. Rowe. She´s got a website (karensgen.com) about nearly all of her ancestors and probably she is related to me, because her great, great, great grandmother, "Engel Dorothea Wille" (Ohndorf #15), who married "Hans Heinrich Riechers" (Ohndorf #44) and immigrated to the US, seems to be related with my ancestors in Ohndorf. Now I´d like to get someone to know, who might help me, finding american (quasi-) relatives. Nils

Hello I am looking for information on the Ganske family. Maybe you can help me. I have enclosed the information I have on the Wille family. I too know karen Rowe. Thanks - Sue Rife Descendants of Michael Wille Generation No. 1 1. MICHAEL1 WILLE was born August 16, 1836 in Ragase in West Prussia, Germany1, and died 1926 in St John's Maxfield Cem.-Denver, Iowa-Maxfield Twp #19. He married ROSINE GANSKE Bet. 1859 - 1861 in Germany1, daughter of MR. GANSKE. She was born December 24, 1837 in Mikolojewo, (Konigreich?) Province Posen (Pruessen) Poland1, and died November 07, 1918 in St John's Maxfield Cem.-Denver, Iowa-Maxfield Twp #19. Notes for MICHAEL WILLE: Michael Wille was born August 16, 1836, near the city of Ragase in West Prussia, Germany. In early childhood he was baptized and thereby received into membership of the Christian church. While a boy he attended the Christian day school in his native town. (Notes from St John's-Maxfield church books state he was from Mikolojewo, Province Posen (Pruessen)) In 1863 Michael Wille was married to Rosine Ganske. The young couple first lived in Germany. However, hearing favorable reports about conditions in U.S.A. we soon find them on their way to this country. Here they made their first stay in Schaumburg, Cook County, Illinois and from there they moved to Bremer County, Iowa and settled on a farm in Maxfield Township. This was to be their permanent home. Mr. and Mrs. Wille lived for forty-eight years on this, their home farm. After Mrs. Wille died her husband moved with his son Julius to the neighboring town of Denver. Altogether Mr. Wille lived for fifty-five years in Iowa and in Bremer County. To Mr. and Mrs. Wille were born ten children. Of these five sons and two daughters survive the father. Mr. Wille enjoyed good health. In his long life he hardly ever knew what it meant to be sick. God gave him bodily strength for a longer time than usually comes to man, but at last the effects of old age could be noticed. The children realized that their father might pass away any time. In this time the deceased received holy communion. Death came December 31, 1925 in the early morning. Mrs. Wille reached an age of 89 years, 4 months and 16 days. The Wille family when they came to Bremer County joined the St. John's Lutheran church in Maxfield Township. All their children attended the school supported by this congregation and were confirmed at their church. Mr Wille knew all the founders and fathers of St. John's church personally. With him the oldest member of this church passed away. The death of the deceased is mourned by his children: Mrs. Fred Everding, Readlyn, Iowa: Julius Wille, Denver, Iowa: Mrs. George Meyerhoff, Dunkerton, Iowa: August Wille, Denver, Iowa: John Wille, Fredericksburg, Iowa: Ernst Wille, Denver, Iowa: Herman Wille, Denver, Iowa, and by 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and by a large number of friends. Interment took place last Sunday in the cemetery of St. John's church at Maxfield. The Rev. Aug. Bartels, pastor of the congregation officiated. He preached his funeral sermon on Hebrews 13:14. Notes for ROSINE GANSKE: Mikolajewo might be in Czarnikau county. Konigreich (Koenigsreich? - translates to "kingdom") ***** Last name spelled Gantzke in church records from Bremer County Iowa. ***** Birthdate also stated as being December 25, 1837 in obit. Church records from St John-Maxfield have December 24, 1837. Obit states married in 1859 and came to America in 1860.
