courier news 031906 Lucy Archer, 91, of Elgin, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born February 12, 1905 in Elgin, the daughter of George and Elsie (Thies) Rockwell. She loved to sew, garden and was an untiring volunteer at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, of which she was a charter member. Lucy was also a proud member of the Elgin Moose Lodge, 799. She is preceded in death by parents; her husband, Edward of over 50 years.; one son, Kenneth; one daughter, Judy Struck; one brother, Lloyd; two sisters, Alice Bloemke and Eunice Guptail. Lucy is survived by two sons, James (Jean) of Portland, OR, Coleman of Elgin; three grandsons, Damon, Whitney and Lowell, all of Portland, OR; one step-grandson, Dan Chen of Portland, OR; two brothers, George Rockwell, CA and Lyle Rockwell of FL. Many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division Street, Elgin with Pastor Olin Sletto, officiating.
