Epstein, 76, will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 208 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Born March 7,1930 in Portage, Wis., he passed away Monday, March 20, 2006, in Hoffman Estates. James had been a 30-year employee of the Milwaukee Road Railroad until his retirement in 1985. He had been an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church since 1960, and a member of World Wide Associates, a volunteer organization at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Mr. Epstein served honorably for three years with the Air Force. He was the beloved husband of Marilene (nee Ahlf), whom he married Nov. 24, 1955; devoted father of Steve (Colleen) Epstein, Ron (Bonnie) Epstein and Jackie (Rick) Rosenfeldt; loving grandfather of Sheryl Epstein, Lori Markovich, Andrew Epstein, Matthew Epstein, Jake Rosenfeldt, Sara Rosenfeldt, Melissa Epstein and Trey Rosenfeldt; great-grandfather of Rachel Markovich; dear brother of Don (Anita) Epstein, Jon (the late Lynn) Epstein and the late Elaine (Dean) Summers and Bob Epstein.
