    3. Hi one and all! Just a note to say that I am now back. I am researching my wife's ancestor Henry Reckewey, who was married in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, IL. Henry Reckewey was a carpenter and allegedly built some houses in Schaumburg! Would there be any records to indicate such? Where is the microfilm of St. Peter's records located? TIA Dick Richard F. Strait 7810 Grover St. Omaha, NE 68124-3328 402-393-2629 rfstrait@juno.com PS: I want to take this opportunity to thank those who helped with my research in the past!

    2. I have been reading about the Theis families on this site. Does anyone have a Dorothea Theis, born 1841 in Hannover, Germany and the daughter of John Theis and Charlotte Trinne? She died in Illinois in 1924 and was married to John Henry Harmening. I found the family in the Bloomingdale 1880 census, but don't know much else. I would appreciate any help. Pat

Is there a chance that someone out there has or can get a full date of birth for the Gottlieb Biesterfeld buried at Resthaven Cemetery (1837-1933)? 2. Johann Heinrich Thies was born 03-07-1777 and died 03-06-1867.(my gggg grandfather.) He married Anne Catharine Dorothee Dauel 04-19-1805 in St. Dionysus, Steimbke, Germany. He is buried in St. John's Cemetery near O'Hare. Sophie Thies Scharringhausen married Johann Heinrich Friederich Scharringhausen, 12-30-1825. They are buried in Elk Grove Cemetery. His son Henry settled in Palatine. He and his family were on the same boat to America as my ggg grandma, Wilhelmina Thies Biermann and her family(1851). He married Sophie Hachmeister. Also Friederich Thies was another son of Johann Heinrich Thies. I have a page from Kane Co. History from 1888, pg. 359, stating his parents were Henry and Dora(Dowl) and his sister was Sophia Scharringhausen. Another brother to Sophie, Henry, Friederich, and Wilhelmina was Wilhelm Thies born in 1819 and married to Maria Helfers. They arrived in 1857. In 1870 and 1880 they lived in Addison, DuPage Co. IL. Johann's children: Sophie Scharringhausen (Elk Grove), Henry Thies(Palatine);a son born 9-12-1809, died 12-25-1814, Johann Heinrich Dieterich born 11-23-1813, Wilhelmina Biermann(Elk Grove), Wilhelm Thies(Addison) and Friederick Thies(Plato). 2. And everyone should know that there are photographs(charcoal drawings?) of Henry Thies and his wife Wilhelmina Brandes in the front room in the Clayson House. I can't wait to see them they next time I visit Illinois. He is the brother of the Fred Thies that were talking about from the 1870 Palatine census. He and his wife were buried at Salem Cemetery but were moved around 1925 to Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington. I think Kirchoff Road was widened then. I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers at the Clayson House. Preserving the history of Palatine is very important to me and my family. So keep up the good work! Jill Biermann Lawson

    2. Karen (and all), I don't suppose you happen to know where the burial records for Immanuel Lutheran (or any other Palatine Lutheran churches) might be? I have looked in the Family History Library catalog and there aren't any there, and I will check the Schaumburg library catalog. If they are actually at the church I could certainly get there. I will also look into the Civil War records. I have done work with Civil War pension records, but there's no evidence his widow sought a pension, probably because she remarried. One correction on the children: It was Caroline who married John George Vehe, not Maria. I suppose I should also try to find probate records for Conrad Thies/Hanne Schermer. That might determine whether the Conrad Thies family in Iowa is the son of this family... Christie
