    3. Harold R. "Mickey" Thomas formerly of Itasca A celebration of the life of Harold R. "Mickey" Thomas, 67, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, in the Carrollwood Chapel at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, Fla. Born in 1935, in Itasca, Ill., he passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, after complications following heart surgery. Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the Army and was honorably discharged as an expert gunner. He was a member of the Tampa Bay Beekeepers Association and the Moose Lodge #400 in Aurora, Ill. Mickey's hobbies included fishing, beekeeping, golfing and bowling. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Dee (Doris); children, Michael and David Thomas and Tammy Jones; stepchildren, Barry, Dawn, Fred, Kimberly and Brian Harper, Donna Kundrot and Stephanie Stage; brothers, Allen "Snooky", Wayne "Punky" and Donald Thomas; sister, Nancy Schielke; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.     3. Ruth D. Grothendieck of Rolling Meadows Funeral services for Ruth D. Grothendieck (nee Franz), 74, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 208 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, where she will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Born July 27, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of Henry and Sophia Franz, she died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Interment will be in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago. Mrs. Grothendieck had worked as an accountant for the Schaumburg Township for over 10 years. Ruth was the wife of Ralph Grothendieck; mother of Donna (Tim) Lucido; Kenneth (Dawn) and the late Bryan Betten; sister of four brothers; four sisters; aunt of many nieces and nephews; and great-aunt of grand-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows.
