Karen, I have come across the Geweke family in Iowa during my researches. There seems to have been more than one that settled in the Bremer County area. I maintain the Founding Families File at the Waverly Library. I have more questions than answers about the Gewekes, but it does seem that the people you were inquiring about were members of the St. John Lutheran, Crane Creek, rural Tripoli, Iowa congregation. There is record of a Heinrich Geweke/Louise Sophie Niemeier wedding there in 1877. Let me know what you can determine. It will help clear up my files. Steve Meyerhoff
Dear List, Am looking for any information on Heinrich and Sophia (surname unknown) Gewecke (Geweke) of Schaumburg, IL. This couple had a son Heinrich Conrad HENRY Gewecke born 06 MAR 1859/1860 in Schaumburg, IL. (The son Henry married Maria Karoline Wilhelmine MARY Koch in 1884 at Tripoli, Bremer Co., IA, had family and died there.) Mother Sophia also moved to Iowa. She was born about 08 AUG 1838 and died 17 MAY 1888 in Iowa. The father Heinrich Gewecke died (after 1859) and is probably buried at Schaumburg, IL. Thanks for any help. Karen S. Rowe
In the Supervisors Book for 1850-1914 I noticed that the township officials decided to purchase a 1875 county map for the town for a cost of $7.50! Frederick Kastning Town Clerk and William Freise Supervisor.

George and Irving Rohde were sons of Louis Rohde and Clara (Dammerman). Henry Dammerman was married to Amanda Harz.(That's probably why Bertha Harz had those pictures.) Alfred Porep was married to Esther Rohde, sister of George and Irving. Clara Dammerman died and Louis married Amanda Bruns. When we would go to Uncle Louis house (my dad's uncle Louis)... the Roesners, Henry and Viola (Bruns) and their sons Jim and Fred, Elmer and Luella (Bruns) Plote and son Ralph and daughter Margaret (Reuter)would be there, too. Jim Roesner would play the accordian and some of the others joined in. It was great.
