Karen and Carla, Don't know if this is any help, but I did a search on the addresses in the Chicago Tribune. I didn't come up with anything for 514 W Chicago Ave, but for 1817 N Sawyer I did find out that on Oct 18, 1951 a Mr and Mrs. Chris Larsen was living at that address - they had a son in Korea. Then on June 2 1968, a James Wilcox age 17 was listed at that address. It was a 2 flat, frame building that by 1974 had been abandoned and was being listed for sale through HUD in a bulk sale for $7700.00. On July 17 1975 it was mentioned in a story about Logan Square (that's the neighborhood) as one of several homes being renovated. We are going to check out the Newberry Library and see if we can find something there. We sure learned alot about city directories from all of you, and plan to hang on to all the wonderful e-mail information you sent us. Hope some day maybe we can help someone too. Thank you so very much we are ever so grateful.
