I too have found info about saloons in Cicero scarce. My grandfather also owned a saloon in 1930 and so far I haven't found any resources to help me with the search. At least you have a saloon name and address...I don't have that either. I was hoping to find it under his name (Joe Benda) somewhere. All I know is the saloon was in Cicero. I've read the suggested books and am currently reading every Capone era book I can find hoping to find something. I do know he was "supposedly" confronted by one of Capone's henchmen (regarding his home brewery in the basement) from a story my mother once told me. But not sure how reliable that story is. I think the phone directory is a good idea. Where does one find directories from that era online? I live in Hawaii so its a long haul to search in person.
