I was hoping to find a widow at the address he died at beginning the year following his death, but at quick glance last night, no obvious luck. And, unfortunately, there were a number of men with the same name in the directories, so it might take some work to figure out which one the license was for. He didn't, by chance, have a child born in Chicago? A wife's name would be on the certificate and so would his occupation. Have you checked the records at familysearch.org's record search pilot?
