I haven't read all the email in detail and so if someone's mentioned this already, I apologize! How about searching c. 1880 directories online at Footnote for other families living on Pierce. Then, take those names back to the census index and see if you can zero in on the street that way . . . Once you have, page forward and back trying to locate the exact address. If you can't find anyone from the city directories living on Pierce in the census, then something strange might be up . . . Cynthia
