Hi, Ellen, The ripoff report sounds like what happened to me when I signed up for 3 months of classmates.com No one ever responded to an email or a phone call and there was no way to talk to a real person.  That's why when I saw the request for credit card information I did not follow through on the newspaper archives. Thanks for posting your research and for saving some of us the aggravation. Yah, well, Opened my Reader Digest yesterday and there was a notice in there that since they sent me a notice that if I did NOT want to renew, that I needed to notify them. As I had NOT notified them, I now owe $19. I sure do not recall seeing the notice. I probably would have renewed, but I am ticked about the way they have done it. Now I am not sure.
