Hi Chuck: This won't be specific to your grandfather, but for a little insight into what his business might have been like, try this excellent book: The Saloon: Public drinking in Chicago and Boston 1880 to 1920, by Perry Duis. University of Illinois Press 1983 Duis also wrote "Challenging Chicago," a must-read for anyone whose ancestors lived in Chicago in the 19th century. I imagine both are widely available. I got them from the Boston public library. Best wishes, Linda in Boston --- On Thu, 2/26/09, charles tintera <CTINTERA@cfl.rr.com> wrote: From: charles tintera <CTINTERA@cfl.rr.com> Subject: [IL-COOK-CHICAGO] Saloons in Cook County To: IL-COOK-CHICAGO@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, February 26, 2009, 11:29 PM My Grandfather, father's side, owned or ran a saloon on the east side of Cicero before prohibition. I have the address and Google Maps, Street-view, shows the building still there though derelict. Are there any records pertaining to saloons? Liquor licenses? Tax records? Could they be a source of information?
