    3. Dear Molly and Nancy - My friend and I thank you for your descriptions. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: Molly Kennedy To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, January 11, 2006 9:05 PM Subject: Re: [IL-CHICAGO] Off Topic? - Is there a Wake Before you die? My Mom's younger sister - who died in 1974, aged 42 - planned her wake - to be a 3-day party, complete with she & her husband's favorite New Orleans Dixieland brass band, a beer truck parked in the family driveway, and favorite family foods served 24/7. Aunt Ginger had already had hosted several of these types of parties, and everybody enjoyed that they could move around the house, the wrap-around porch, & the large yard, mixing & mingling with all types of people, sharing funny stories & great times. She always said that's what she wanted for her wake -- so people she loved would enjoy and relish the joy of her life & family - and not be "wailing in the shadows". - and that's what her husband & daughters did for her "last hurrah". No fears - lots of tears - but they were tears of joy. molly Molly Kennedy P O Box 5785 Springfield, IL 62705 www.mollx.com Genealogy - Confusing the dead, and annoying the living. =========================== >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [IL-CHICAGO] Off Topic? - Is there a Wake Before you die? >Date: Wed, 11 Jan 2006 19:58:52 +0000 > >They use to have them in Ireland the night before the person was to leave >for America because they knew they would most likely never see that person >again. 1. Swedish Help ??
    2. Hi, I seem to recall reading not long ago that somebody maybe had a CD for Sweden, and if so, could I please have a look-up? My Gr Aunt married a Sandell, and I am unable to find his father's name. His mother *may have been* Ida M. Petersen, b. 10 Mar 1866 in Sweden I first find them in the 1900 Census in Chicago Sandell, Ida, 34, Mar 1866, Wd, Imm. 1896, 4 kids born, 4 living. , Erick, 9, July 1890 , Clara, 7, Apr 1893 In 1910, they are living in North Dakota, Cass Co Dahl, Joe, 60, M/2, b. Sweden , Ida, 44, M/2, b. Sweden [4 kids born, 4 living] Sandell, Erick, 18, b. Sweden , Clara, 17, b. Sweden In 1920, they are still in ND .. Dahl, Joseph, 64, b. Sweden , Ida, 53, b. Sweden Petersen, Oscar, 49, Single, b. Sweden, Imm. 1888, NA 1894 [Brother-in-law] 1930, Ida is still in ND, but alone .... Dahl, Ida M., 64, Wd, Sweden, 1895 [Servant for Anton Seruel] Ida M. Sandell passed away in Cass Co., ND 3 July 1949 [interesting that took the Sandell name back]. Erick Sandell's Draft Card states that he was born in Kalmor, Sweden on July 8, 1891. My Gr Aunt, Maria Elizabeth Kurtz married [1924] Erick [who went by the name Edward Sandell and by the 1930 Census said he was born in IL. I suspect that neither he nor his mother became US citizens, and he just started using Edward, born in IL. I knew him, and way back in my mind, I know the name Erick, Ida and Clara with this family. Who is the father of Erick & Clara? And what happened to the other two children?? Did they remain in Sweden? Any help will be greatly appreciated .......... Sharon Buethner
