Pat-Can you give me hints as to where to find information? My gfather in law had a wife Fannie-the dc(Hymans)states that he died in NYC(Manhattan) October 31, 1943-Fannie preceded him in death. We have the year almost to 1921.We think thatl he remarried another Fanny or Fannie and with her they had four children all born in the twenties. We know that something happened to make his daughter (by first wife) mad that she told her siblings that if they had anything to do with Hyman-she would disowned them. I looked into NYC death Index, wrote to the state and they claim not to have any records of Fannie or The second Fannie!I I finally went into Chicago to find out if my father in law had her bury in Chicago altho he died 1958-I also be mailing a letter to the cemetery and I wrote to the vital area too. What-where should I ago next if the letters are negative? In my gfathers obit,he had two brothers ,a sister and a mother.I do not know where the sister died or in fact,born-the same goes with their father-Philip-I have nothing on Philip. The information that I have on Ida Weintraub Hertzberg is wrong,The only information which is correct is her husbands name is Joseph. I thought that they had settled in Chicago like her brothers and mother did. I guess that I was wrong so where do I look?
Hi, I tried to look up some things for you, but you really need to give us more information. What do you have? Do you have census info? If so, what years, and WHERE? Do you have Draft Card info? You mention brothers and sisters, but no names. Do you know their names? Do you have birth and death dates? It is hard to sort out people without any idea of when and where they were born and died. There are Hyman Hoffmans [with wives named Fanny] both in NY and in Chicago. I won't be able to spend any time doing look-ups for you until after the holidays, but if you can organize the info that you do have, I can maybe do some looking after the first of the year.
