Thank you for your support, Molly! I do think there are many who don't hold a clue that adopted adults are denied access to their original birth certificate. One of our goals is to educate the public while we fight for IL adopted adults to have a civil right restored to them. - Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: "Molly Kennedy" <mollx@hotmail.com> To: <il-cook-chicago@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 9:27 PM Subject: Re: [IL-COOK-CHICAGO] ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATES FOR IL ADOPTEES > > FYI - the state of Texas DOES allow adoptees (whose original AND adoptive > birth certificates were originally registered in TX), to obtain a copy of > their original birth certificate -unretouched. > > > > Illinois SHOULD follow their lead. > > > > molly > > Molly Kennedy > P O Box 5785 > Springfield, IL 62705 > AUGUST 2009 - 1916-1947 IL DEATH CERT DISCOUNT! Back in March 2009, with the economic situation in a downward spiral - my adult kids suggested a monthlong discounted fee for statewide IL death certificates issued 1916-1947. My kids, now adults & married to wonderful partners in life - are wiser than I am - (who knew they'd turn out this good??) They think I need to do this again.. (just to keep me busy, and out of their lives~). So I am. My regular fee for any one IL death cert issued 1916-1947 (including standard U.S. postage expense), has been $5 each, for a few years. During August 2009, my fees for IL death certs issued 1916-1947, IF ordered at the same time - will be: 1 IL death cert = $4 2 IL death certs = $8 3 IL death certs = $10 If ANY requests or inquiries, please email me, offlist, at mollx@hotmail.com ~~ My "fishing expedition" fee of $1.50 still stands; "fishing" means I will check, but NOT print, any IL death cert issued 1916-1947, that does not match the criteria/info provided to me upon request. I wish I could do more... to help everybody through these nationwide budget-crunching times.. but this is all I can afford to do, at this time. it's not enough, I know. but I'm trying. molly Molly Kennedy P O Box 5785 Springfield, IL 62705 Genealogical website: www.mollx.com Genealogy - Confusing the dead, and annoying the living.

Here is a new way to keep your relatives ashes http://www.cremationsolutions.com/c109/Personal-Urns-Full-Sized-p611.html And some people are scared of cemeteries! ar
I have posted some photos on Find A Grave, but have not made any contacts. BUT, I have also requested a photo from a listed cemetery, and had it posted within a week. Very accommodating volunteer! Bonnie
Thanks Everyone I am glad to hear that findagrave is a good site. I tried to join but seems there is a problem with the registration. I am not getting an activation code. Yes I have written to them and am still waiting to hear. Hope the problem gets solved soon. Patti I noticed a long list of names, asking for grave pics, for a cemetery very near to me. Yesterday I started on that list but can't post until I am fully registered. Folks have always helped me out when I needed pictures so seems only right for me to help others. Maybe others on this list will give it a try also, heck it doesn't cost anything now with digital cameras. Arleen
I entered info at the Find a Grave site and thought it went fine. I've never had any contact with other family members as a result, but I didn't really expect it. I have had good luck in finding RI ancestors on Find a Grave. I had a nice e-mail chat with the person who took the pictures. She entered my name as the contact for those particular ancestors. So far, I have not been contacted by other family members. All in all, I'd say I have a very good experience with Find a Grave. I have not had any problems or bad experiences. Just a note: I also volunteer to take photos in my area. If there are any problems I guess they can always delete information by your request. Since there was so little of my families information on line, I've been posting it on various sites. I also pay to have the ads removed from each page, although just a couple at a time.
