I have Census in 1900 for all brauches but I wonder if I would go to your site that you mentioned-would there be different information on it? The reason that I have asked is that I have found docs the same, coming from diffferent places with different or less information.

No, Ellen, I had not seen this. It is the Step son, Donald Fowler who was born Donald Rose, and his mother changed his name [and, I am told, was never done through the courts, either]. Hi, I need an obit to determine if there are any sons for a possible DNA test on this family. We have a shortage of sons in my Cook Co. Rose family -- my Gr Grandfather had 5 sons, 1 had no children, one had 1 daughter, one had 2 daughters, one had one son, and my Grandfather had 1 son [who had no legal children], and 2 daughters. Gr Grandfather's Uncle had two sons, one had two daughters and one had one son and one daughter. The obit I am looking for is for the Uncle's family -- Harold "Hal" W. Rose, b. 15 Aug 1905 IL, d. 15 Nov 1989 IL ? I also am looking for the obit for: Velva M. Budzuis, b. 5 July 1919 MN, d. 8 May 2002 Mt. Vernon, WA. Velva was m. for a short time to my Grandfather's son, and "may" have had the only male child in the family [I am told he was born Rose, but his mother changed his name]. I am not sure if I will ever be able to tie the two families together, except by DNA. Sigh ! And then the shortage of males .......... Thanks for any help anyone can offer, Sharon Buethner

But don't panic, all seems to be fine, they're just cleaning up! Got this From the Newberry Library site: 12/1/2005 Fire at Northeastern Illinois University Temporarily Closes IRAD The Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) at Northeastern Illinois University has closed due to a fire at the Ronald Williams Library. According to the university's Web site, the target date for the reopening of the library is January 2nd. Check here or call (773) 442-4410 for additional details. I know that KAM is the oldest Synagogue in Chicago-in the mid west in fact.It was established around 1854-I do not have the article in front of me but will make a copy of it if you would like. I know that it was around the area that you speak of.There is abook that is called The Spirit Builder that mentioned it also. I would like you to get in touch with Chicago Historical Society and get a list of Synagogues of that time. Perhaps they have addresses too
i am sure someone will take a look at a directory but i would venture a guess that a call to a temple of today will garner you some information about the OLDEST temple in the area at the time.... use google LOCAL for help in finding some to call..... Hello Cook County Experts-- I'm looking for a list of Jewish Synagogue's for the early 1900's timeframe. Most specifically, I need to find a congregation on the near southwest side of the city...1000-2000 south, as far west as Western Ave. No indication they ventured as far as Hyde Park. Can anybody direct me? Thanks in advance for any help. Bonnie

actually, the film is often not the culprit... but the glass.... there are two glasses that need to be cleaned that the reader touches all the time in threading the film... then there are two sides of a lens... and then there is the mirror on the inside of the machine.... all of these should be cleaned when the machine is serviced... and often none of them are... if you frequent the same place, make sure you speak up about this to the assistant... they should KNOW how to clean these things... it is not something that a service has to be called for after one KNOWS.... and there are certain tissues that are required for the lens so they should have this in stock... trust me on this.. the static from the film zipping thru will attract dust particles to these surfaces and need to be cleaned.... as they become more and more THICK, they smudge more and more and look like scratches... be agresssive in getting the machines in working order.... it is part of their JOB to keep the machines in good working ord...

You've got that right! When I first moved here, I thought I wouldn't be able to research my Chicago family. Actually, our films are in better shape than the ones in Chicago. I once had the Joliet library request a copy of an 1910 Tribune death notice of my gGrandmother, and it was very scratchy and difficult to read. I got the same page here in Springfield and it's perfect. > thanks for all the look ups .... > I kinda think that these dark dungeons are your second homes.... > so mollyGIRL keep up the good work > and for you folks who are searching illinois.. and use cyberdriveillinois... molly is the gal to reach to GET the treasure.... > the more you give her in info, the better for you...as in cheaper than the already cheap... > www.mollx.com<http://www.mollx.com/> Absolutely!
