    1. Please Help!!
    2. Judith Mason
    3. In the 1860 Negaunee, Marquette Co., MI census, my gr gr grandparents, James & Catherine DONOVAN are listed with their children Catherine (my gr grandmother), John, Annie, and Mary along with a servant Margaret COONEY. James and the children are shown as b. Canada. My family records show James and Annie being b. Elmer, Canada. Catherine and Margaret are shown as b. Ireland By June of 1865, when another child is born, James is in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO with the children and his wife Margaret (not Catherine). Before finding the 1860 census record, all I knew was my gr gr grandmother was Margaret nee Cooney b. Co. Cork, Ireland. I didn't know James had been previously married. I'm trying to find the place and date of death for Catherine Donovan (maiden name unknown) along with the place and date of marriage for James Donovan and Margaret Cooney. I was not able to find this information at St. Paul church in Negaunee, Negaunee Cemetery, St. James Cathedral in St. Joseph nor at Calvary/Mt. Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph. I assume the death and marriage took place while in transit from MI to MO. Can someone give me some suggestions on how or where to search? Thanks so much for any help. Judie Mason Chicago

    1. Help me Please
    2. For several years now,I have been trying to untangle a web-but have face brick walls that do not want me to trepass-let me tell you a story.Something happened that my gfather in law,Hyman(Chaim) Hoffman was involve with-I think that it was a remarriage that cause his only daughter to tell her siblings that if they hadd anything to do with him-that she would disowned them(That is the story that my brother in law told) To make a long story short--I have looked in NYC and State for seven years and have come up with nothing. They tell me that she(Fannie) has no death date with them.so I am going to search Chicago and Hackensack to see if my father in law buried her in either place. I looked on familytreelegends the other day and came up with two records that might be her but I can't afford to lose anymore money;I need to have a look up--1923-09-25 certificate 6025813.I do not think this is the one for I think my father in law came to Chicago around 1934.The other one is 1934-06-23--number- 6017660-information that you must have-religion Jewish, names that I saw were Siegel or Soelin-children were Louis,Anna,Benjamin,Abraham, Harry and Irving. On Hymans dc- states that Fannie preceded him. He died August 31,1943-Manhatten.

That will take you to the database screen where you make your choices. 2. Hi, I tried to look up some things for you, but you really need to give us more information. What do you have? Do you have census info? If so, what years, and WHERE? Do you have Draft Card info? You mention brothers and sisters, but no names. Do you know their names? Do you have birth and death dates? It is hard to sort out people without any idea of when and where they were born and died. There are Hyman Hoffmans [with wives named Fanny] both in NY and in Chicago. I won't be able to spend any time doing look-ups for you until after the holidays, but if you can organize the info that you do have, I can maybe do some looking after the first of the year. 2. Pat-Can you give me hints as to where to find information? My gfather in law had a wife Fannie-the dc(Hymans)states that he died in NYC(Manhattan) October 31, 1943-Fannie preceded him in death. We have the year almost to 1921.We think thatl he remarried another Fanny or Fannie and with her they had four children all born in the twenties. We know that something happened to make his daughter (by first wife) mad that she told her siblings that if they had anything to do with Hyman-she would disowned them. I looked into NYC death Index, wrote to the state and they claim not to have any records of Fannie or The second Fannie!I I finally went into Chicago to find out if my father in law had her bury in Chicago altho he died 1958-I also be mailing a letter to the cemetery and I wrote to the vital area too. What-where should I ago next if the letters are negative? In my gfathers obit,he had two brothers ,a sister and a mother.I do not know where the sister died or in fact,born-the same goes with their father-Philip-I have nothing on Philip. The information that I have on Ida Weintraub Hertzberg is wrong,The only information which is correct is her husbands name is Joseph. I thought that they had settled in Chicago like her brothers and mother did. I guess that I was wrong so where do I look?

    1. Divorce papers .....
    2. My copies of the divorce papers that my grandparents filed [but never carried through to an actual divorce] arrived today. Yes, the date and place of marriage are listed [and Grandpa was one day off what was shown, and several counties off, too - but the right state]. I had checked every county that I had thought they had been in, but missed this one. And although I said that I thought I knew what the grounds would be -- I was wrong. I also was very surprised to learn that Grandpa asked for custody of my then 4 year old Uncle. Sharon Buethner
