    2. You might try the Church. I have seen several times, in the death register, the cause of death. Also, sometimes obits stated cause of death. I am not sure what you might get from death certificates, if there were any, before 1900. Geez, some of the kids were born just 9 months apart. 1. 3. Yes, renting films can be a good way to go. But, if you're going to order in Chicago or Cook County death record films and the deaths are before 1916, email me using the Wilmette FHC email address below and I'll give you some help. il_wilmette@ldsmail.net (Put "FHC Question" in the subject line) Before 1916, the certificate numbers can repeat 2, 3, or 4 times in a given year and the last time I checked, the Family History Library catalog didn't make it clear which months are on which films. There's a pattern, but it doesn't always hold true. Quite frankly, though, it will cost at least $5.50 to order in a film and it will take at least couple of weeks for it to arrive so unless you're in a place where the films are immediately available (Wilmette or Salt Lake, for example) it's not necessarily the cheapest or most efficient way to get the records. 3. Hi Jackie - Here's a list of places you can check out in no particular order. South Suburban Genealogy & Historical Society http://www.ssghs.org Monee is in Will County, so you might find more help if you join a Will county list and ask about this family there. The Will county genweb page is here http://will.ilgenweb.net/ The library is located in Peotone http://peotone.lib.il.us/ The Illinois statewide databases are here http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/databases.html There is a pre 1916 death database, but it is not complete yet. There are some Seeman listed there, but they didn't look like the ones you sent to the list. Check it out. If you can find them in this index, you can send to Cynthia for the documents for a small fee. http://www.chicagogenealogy.com/index.html Also, look around at that site for some other information. Contact the library to see if there is a local paper where the more recent obituaries might have appeared, and see what they charge to send them to you. An obituary might give the cause of death. However, if you are trying to find health information you would be better off getting the death certificates. I think the family history library also has films of Illinois vitals. You can check their website to see what they have, and order them in to a Family History Library near you. http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp Check out Molly Kennedy's site at http://www.mollx.com/ If you can't get to any of the record centers yourself, maybe Molly can find the records for you. One more thing - Is the Lutheran cemetery associated with a specific church? If so, maybe you can find religious records. If not, maybe the cemetery has the name of the particular church Heinrich & Hanna belonged to. 3. I think I have died and gone to heaven. Cook County,Illinois just added the spouse's name to the search when you look for marriages. No need to use Steven Morse site. This is a real plus but I still can't find the people I want! Arleen And for those who are new and have no clue what I am talking about the site is: http://www.cookcountygenealogy.com/Default.aspx

    3. What dates did they die. You might find there is a cheaper way to get the DC if we know the dates Arleen On Thu, Dec 11, 2008 at 1:15 AM, jackie mccarty <jackie_44_2000@yahoo.com>wrote: > > Ok Iam going to have to pick someones brains, does anyone know if there is > a way that i can find out how my ggrandparents died from without trying to > buy a death certificate? 2. David Buzzek
    3. Daryl I can't help with the specifics at the moment but the following may help. The addresses are on the far south side of Chicago--115th and Michigan (100 East). You will find this on any Chicago map. M Cooney's has been out of business for a number of years. Relatives of the South side Cooney's have been operating funeral homes on the North side since the 1920's. There is a Cooney Funeral Home on Irving Park Road in Chicago, as well as one in the North suburbs. While it is now run by 3rd and 4th generations of the Cooney family, and had no business connection with the South side Funeral Home, perhaps they might be able to help in some way. The Cooney's were Irish Catholics as were many of their clients. 1. [IL-COOK-CHICAGO] IL-COOK-CHICAGO Chicago Memories

    3. I visit St. Adalbert Cemetery on a regular basis.  The earliest interment record I have found was for a death on November 30, 1879.  Cemetery staff, as well as the Archdiocese of Chicago, have advised me that records for St. Adalbert do not exist prior to the 1878/1879 timeframe.   Also, the greatest majority of burials at that time were in term graves, mostly because folks couldn't afford to purchase a permanent grave.  The term graves were "temporary."  After 20 years, it was up to the family to purchase a permanent grave.  I have one such case in my family where a permanent grave was purchased when the term grave expired.  The remains of the deceased were moved to a different (permanent) location.  There were no markers for term graves, and the Section numbers (actually, they were identified either by one letter or two letters) in which they were buried no longer exist.  Cemetery staff can give you the current corresponding Section number and only an approximation of where someone was buried in a term grave.  No way to identify the exact site.  FYI, term grave burials at St. Adalbert were discontinued, I believe, in the 1960s.   Hope this helps.   Ruth --- On Tue, 12/9/08, Anettka@aol.com <Anettka@aol.com> wrote: From: Anettka@aol.com <Anettka@aol.com> Subject: Re: [IL-COOK-CHICAGO] IL-COOK-CHICAGO Chicago Memories To: il-cook-chicago@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2008, 10:08 AM In a message dated 12/9/2008 12:07:01 AM Pacific Standard Time, Linda writes: The Chicago Death Index: Believed to be burial permits, 1871 to 1933 ************************ Linda, thanks for this encouragement....
