    1. [IL-CIVIL-WAR] Wayne County GAR Posts
    2. Jack Cox
    3. By the way, Wayne County had at least 3 GAR posts: #244 Fairfield Post Fairfield, IL #333 I. N. Haynie Post Johnsonville, IL (There are two Johnsonvilles in IL; however, since the commander of the 48th Illiniois, Isham N. Haynie, was from next-door Clay County, and CO. "I" was from nearby Johnsonville, I think this one is in Wayne County.) #480 James Mays Post Mt. Erie, IL (James Mays was in Co "K" 113th Illinois Infantry, was from Fairfield, IL. Mustered in Feb 29, 1864 Disch, Sep 14, 1864; disability. He's also listed in the 1862 military census, residence Mt. Erie Township, age 50, farmer) I searched towns where the county was not mentioned. What town was your Thomas walker from? This URL has the 1862 military census for Wayne County http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/U-Z.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "mebrimberry" <mebrimberry@mvn.net> To: <IL-CIVIL-WAR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 8:46 PM Subject: Re: [IL-CIVIL-WAR] infantry national flag > Thanks Rhonda, you have been very helpful. > > meb > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Rhonda Houston" <rfhouston@mindspring.com> > To: <IL-CIVIL-WAR-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 12:53 PM > Subject: RE: [IL-CIVIL-WAR] infantry national flag > > > > http://www.illinoiscivilwar.org/gar.html > > Grand Army of the Republic in Illinois > > I don't see a GAR post within Wayne County, Ill. so there must be one that > > contains more than one county within the area that includes Wayne County. > > (There is a Wayne township in DuPage County, Illinois...you are sure that > it > > is Wayne County, IL?) > > > > http://suvcw.org/garcinc/bfsteven.htm > > Dr. Benjamin F.
