I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my request for how to get information on the 5th Calvary. A big thank you to all of you who sent info about the newspaper index at the Illinois Archives. I did not know about the newspaper index and it will be my first "next step"! I am waiting on the pension files of my gg grandfather to come from the National Archives. Now if someone will just offer to give me private lessons on how to use the OR!!!! LOL. I have good access to it, but find it overwhelming! Thanks for your help!
