Researching: Sons of JOHN GOTTLIEB SEIDEL. I've been told by a third cousin that there is a Civil War Memorial in Central Park in Sterling, Illinois, that lists the names of local men who served in the Civil War. One of the sons of John Gottlieb Seidel is listed there. Does anyone live in Sterling near enough to Central Park where they could take a look and tell me which one it is? Or does someone have access to a list of names of men who served from Illinois? I find it interesting that he volunteered as the family story is that this family left Germany because of the military service required of the sons.
