A son - Jacob Herman JACOBS - of my gg grandfather died in a Civil War Veterans hospital in Washington D.C. His father lived in Woodford County. When the dad died in 1895 , the court considered Jacob as dead as the last the family had heard from him was when he wrote a letter in 1866 stating he was in Nebraska and was going to Montana and would write later. Documentation last year from a distant cousin showed that Jacob died in 6/13/1928 at Solders Home Hospital in Washington D.C., where he had lived since 1892. Looking for where he joined the Army - and anything else about him Very well could be that he joined the service in a state other than Illinois. Have not located him in any census for Woodford county. His estate had assets in Ohio, California, as well ad Washington D.C. Also have no birth date/year. Where do I go from here?
