I too, would love to learn information concerning the taking of POW's by CS forces..how they were processed and if their names were recorded on records that may be available. My ancestor of the 36th IL Inf, died 1 month after he was listed MIA at Spring Hill 1864. I highly suspect he was a POW due to the fact that he died Jan 6, 1865 in Corinth, MS. a date when CS forces had control of the city. Any help on understanding the recording of Wounded prisoners would be most helpful also.

It's the diary as well as letters home from Col. Francis T. Sherman of the 88th from Chicago..one of my g-g-gf's commanding officers. Another book, not found yet it "Narrative of a Private Soldier" Charles T. Francis 1879...aide de camp of Sherman.

I know alot of people on the list are doing Genealogy and there not collectors so I thought I might give you another idea to try and find them. I have been a Collector and amature historian of the 48th Illinois for about 3 years and have found many pictures and documents. Some of my best items have come from dealers, so you should start looking through the items that they have on the internet. If anyone would like any Urls address' I would be happy to list a few. Just to give you a idea of what you can find..I bought a picture of my 3rd great grandfather in uniform from a dealer over the internet.
