    3. Further information might possibly be obtained from the official Baptist newspaper, "The Illinois Baptist" in Springfield. They did some research for me several years ago on the oldest Baptist minister in both age and years of ordained service in the state. I don't know how far back their archives go. I am curious about where in Montgomery County the Bethel Baptist church was located. There was a Primitive Baptist church just north of Coffeen, that I cannot place a name on. The only Bethel Church I have heard of is just across the Montgomery/Fayette County line on Rte 185.
