Is there any way to get records for a mental hospital in Jacksonville, Il? I once found a Nanninga there through the Peoria Gen. Soc. but did not connect him with my family at that time. I now believe he may have been a great uncle. If the records do exist I would love to see them. I realize that not everyone in these institutions were insane. They also treated alcoholics, epileptics and persons with brain tumors as well as many other illnesses. I am missing a Jann Nanninga (John?) who was born in Pewsum, Ostfriesland, Germany in 1853. He married a Wilmina Arends and they had a son named Konke Frerichs Nanninga (same name as my father) in 1880 in Canum, Ost., Gy. I'm not even sure they immigrated but I would sure like to know about this Nanninga in Jacksonville. Any help would be appreciated.
