    3. TCGHS Announcements - http://www.rootsweb.com/~iltcghs Greetings! Have just posted the following updates to the Tazewell County Genealogical & Historical Society website: Cookbook Wins a National Award - Congrats to Cookbook Committee! We have been informed that our cookbook, Cooking Up Memories, has been selected as the Midwest Regional Winner for the 1999 TABASCO® Community Cookbook Awards. Eventually, the cookbook will be featured on the Tabasco® website. There's more about this great honor on our website. February Meeting - 7 p.m. February 8 - Society Library Mr. Mel Stanford of the Illinois Department of Transportation will speak on the "Roads of Illinois". Mr Stanford is a Mackinaw resident. March Meeting Reminder - 7 p.m. March 14 - Society Library As a kickoff to our Whirlwind History of South Pekin dinner & drama (March 25 - tickets available February 1), March's slide illustrated talk will be "The Chicago and Northwestern heads South: South Pekin and the St. Louis Gateway"-- presented by Craig Pfannkuche, C&NW Historical Society genealogical archivist. Craig will speak about the history of the C&NW in relation to its move south from Nelson, Illinois to "Pontoon Beach" (East St. Louis). He will then discuss the history of the line through South Pekin - including some speculation as to the future of the line. Craig will close his talk by discussing what materials are available to the individual who wants to do genealogical research concerning the railroad with special emphasis on its personnel. Besides being a professional genealogist who is listed in Ancestry's "The Source" as a railroad research resource, Craig is on the boards of the McHenry County Genealogical Society, McHenry County Historical Society, Illinois State Historical Society, and is the current president of the Chicago Genealogical Society. Craig has published articles in many publications and has conducted lectures and seminars at many local and state genealogical conferences. He taught American History and Anthropology for over 30 years. That's it for now! Thanks, Mike Dickson TCGHS Webmaster
