    3. Sharon, Now your on to something. The place to look is the index to the probate records for Cook County. I suspect they will be in the Probate Court. Check the Cook County web page of the USGENWEB project or sign on to the Cook County mailing list of RootsWeb. Either one may have the index on line or someone may be willing to do a lookup for you. 3. Sharon, If the suit was settled in Chicago, it was probably filed in Cook County. It should be in the court records there. Those are public records & are open to anyone who wants to look at them. You probably need to determine the type of suit & who the actual parties, plaintiff & defendant, were. Then you can look up the case & get all the data you need. You may want to query someone on the Cook County mail list for assistance. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mnsajt@juno.com> To: <IL-CENTRAL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 25, 2000 6:17 PM Subject: [IL-CENTRAL] early 1900s court case info? > Can someone tell me where to look for the details of a court case that > was said to have been well publicized? 2. Dorothy Nanninga Sewell
    3. Jackie, I recognize several Ostfriesen names in your letter. For the Miller name try looking under Mueller, Meuller or Müller which it would have been in the old country. The ü is pronounced by forming your lips into the shape they would make saying a u but saying e instead. Try it and you'll see how it got translated to so many different spellings. I would suggest that you explore the Ostfriesen site at http://www.summitsoftware.com/ostfriesen and join the list. You will find it very informative and may even find others searching for the same name. I would also like to suggest (she said modestly) that you register your names on my Ostfriesland Ancestors site. I'm also interested in your Young line. Could you please email me privately so that I can ask questions? Maybe we can help each other. Good luck, Dottie Dorothy Nanninga Sewell dsewell@alaska.net Eagle River, Alaska Ostfriesland Ancestors http://www.alaska.net/~dsewell

    2. Jackie (Woodward) Johnston
    3. I am looking for Henrietta, Fredricke "Jettie" (MILLER) YOUNG. She was born in Warren County, Missouri on July 27, 1871. She moved to the Central Illinois area around the late 1800's to the beginning of the early 1900's. Her mother was Maria Louisa(e) (GREBE)-LUNING-MOELLER/MILLER. She had two known siblings Anna GADT and Henry LUNING. This children came from her first marriage to Heinrich Wilhelm LUNING. Her mother married after the death of her father(dd.November 23, 1875) to Johann MOELLER/JOHN MILLER in Holstein, Warren County, Missouri on Octber 29, 1878. Between the two families and several from the Johann/ John and Louisa(e) marriage there were eleven children. Jettie would marry Herman YOUNG, possible from the same area of Missouri she came from. Henry LUNING (her brother) may have died some time before 1927. I believed he lived in the same area in the early 1900's. Most of this information came from her mother's obit. Any information on these families will be appreciated. Spelling of names may vary. Thanks in advance. Jackie
