I have located my family in Ogle County in the 1850, 1870, and later census, but I cannot find them any earlier than that. I know they came from Washington County, Maryland sometime prior to 1850. I've tried to find someone with access to the Maryland census of 1840, but no luck. Does anyone out there have access to it by chance? I know this is mainly about Illinois, but anything can help. I'd be looking for John Christian Herbert, his wife Mary Ann Herbert, and their children Martin Luther Herbert and Henry Clay Herbert. Might have a daughter then too. Thanks!
