Arlene, In 1837, my gggfather Wesley Hunt born in Kentucky in 1814 while living in Louisiana, Pike Co; Missouri lost his wife Melissa Callaway leaving two children of three years and 3 months. Wesley crossed the Mississippi River to see if his sister in Illinois would take care of the children. Wesley Hunt was never heard from again. It was presumed that he drowned while crossing the River. I don't know nothing about my gggfather's family save they were from Kentucky and that there was at least a sister in Illinois. She should be in 1850 abt 35 years. Is this search possible? Thanks for trying.
