Family Hunters, I am looking for Laura A. McIntosh, born abt. 1870 in Illinois. She married William T. Long in Decatur, Macon Co, IL on October 18, 1892. According to a newspaper article in the Decatur Daily Republican of October 19, 1892, the marriage took place at the home of her parents, Major and Mrs. E. W. McIntosh, 249 N. Water St., officiated by Rev. Parker of the First M. E. Church. I can find Laura with her husband in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses. Laura died June 21, 1920. I guessed that Major E. W. McIntosh was the Civil War prisoner of war from McLean County, Eppenetus W. McIntosh, but no daughter appears in any census with his family. I guess they could have adopted her after 1880. It is recorded in the censuses of 1900 and after, that Laura's father was born in Massachusetts or Pennsylvania. Civil War soldiers from Massachusetts or Pennsylvania with first names beginning with E include: Elbridge McIntosh - MA Edward McIntosh - PA Ephraim McIntosh - MA Erastus McIntosh - MA Ethan McIntosh - MA Can you find Laura in the 1880 census? Thanks!! - Pam ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
