    3. Georgette - Thank you for your help. This is my Greatgreatgrandfather Samuel's family. How in the heck they got to Effingham, IL, is beyound me. To our knowledge the family remained in NC during the Civil War. At least one child Robert enlisted in the 47th NC Inf Reg when he was 16 and was captured near the end of the war. Susan, Alfred, and Mary and another son (my greatgrandfather Robert) moved to Jasper County, MO, around 1875. We don't know what happened to Samuel. Also the Thomas listed was may have been another child, but if so, we don't know what happened to him. One of Robert's sons was named Thomas. Any thoughts on how to go about seeing if Samuel died and is buried in the Effingham area? Again thanks for your help.
