Dear Cook List, I am searching for a Julius JESCHKE in 1900 and 1910 Chicago, Cook County. He was born c1860s in Germany/Prussia/possibly Posen. He immigrated to America before 1890. In Feb 1890 he was living in South Chicago. I do not know where in Chicago he was living in 1900 or 1910. He had a son Max (born 1891-1894), and perhaps other children, but I do not know their names or his wife's name. Occupation of Julius unknown. Other possible spellings for JESCHKE: JESKE, JAESCHKE. The 'J' is pronounced like a 'Y' I would be grateful for any Julius JESCHKE entries that you might find in Chicago that might fit this scenario. Thank you so very much. Sincerely, Katherine Bellingham, Washington
I am trying to find information on Anthony Behan (possibly Bahan). Anthony was born in Stepney Middlesex England circa 1872. His mother died and father deserted Anthony and his two siblings, John and Mary Ann. They were sent to a workhouse and then to an orphanage. He was a British Home Child sent to the Ottawa area in Canada in 1886 to work on a farm. Anthony ran away from the farm and entered northern U.S.A. I just found out that sometime prior to 1930 he was living in Milan Illinois. Milan is a village located in Blackhawk township, Rock Island County, Illinois. Hope someone can help... Cheers, Bill _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? May I please have a lookup for surname FUCHS in 1900 IL, possibly St. Clair County, IL, or county near St. Louis, MO. Frank Fuchs is listed as the husband in the wife's father's probate papers. Frank's wife is Regina Schwalb Fuchs, born probably in the 1860's, probably in IL, possibility of St. Louis, MO. In the 1898 probate papers, they are said to be living in IL. I do know that her older sister was born in Belleville, St. Clair Co, IL, in about 1859. I have searched for Frank Fuchs and cannot find one with a wife Regina in 1900 or later. She was still alive at least in 1905, and I am pretty sure much later than that. Thank you in advance for any help. Frances
Georgette - Thank you for your help. This is my Greatgreatgrandfather Samuel's family. How in the heck they got to Effingham, IL, is beyound me. To our knowledge the family remained in NC during the Civil War. At least one child Robert enlisted in the 47th NC Inf Reg when he was 16 and was captured near the end of the war. Susan, Alfred, and Mary and another son (my greatgrandfather Robert) moved to Jasper County, MO, around 1875. We don't know what happened to Samuel. Also the Thomas listed was may have been another child, but if so, we don't know what happened to him. One of Robert's sons was named Thomas. Any thoughts on how to go about seeing if Samuel died and is buried in the Effingham area? Again thanks for your help.
