I'm looking for an 1850 census record for Kirby Benedict, possibly in Edgar County, because I found a reference that he moved to Paris in 1849. I'm hoping to possibly find my ggg aunt, Lottie Evans, living with his family. I know she was born in Ohio in 1843, orphaned in Vigo County, Indiana, around 1848-1850, taken to live with the family of Samuel Peabody, and then taken to live with Kirby Benedict, who was a politician and friend of Abraham Lincoln. Benedict took her to live in New Mexico where he became Chief Justice of the territory. She lived there from 1853 to 1861, when she was returned to Illinois to rejoin her brothers, Henry and Charles Evans. I've found Henry in the 1860 census in Christian County, but no Charles. If anyone can help me with this interesting story, I'd appreciate it.
