    3. A woman who double-checked the censuses says it reads "Barker," not "Borker," for Lydia Barker. I am also interested in knowing whether there might be any Illinois census listings for Abigail Olive (Reed) Hargis and Thomas Hargis, who are thought to be the parents of Eliza Hargis, born about 1828, somewhere in Illinois. 1. Illinois/1920/ ? WHITE(b. England)
    2. K C
    3. This may be a longshot, but how difficult would it be to search either the 1920 or 1930 census for all the WHITES in IL who were born in ENGLAND? Unfortunately we don't have much to go on, not even a first name. We just know the 1900 census said he was born in England. Family stories have it that this WHITE may have served some political office in IL. His illegitimate son (an uncle) went to look for his father sometime in the 1920's or 1930's, and we think he found him in IL. If we can find this man, it may be a key to finding other members of our family. If this is too complicated, I certainly understand. Thank you so much. KC

    1. Unknown, 1820, BORKER
    2. Simone Smith
    3. I am wondering whether anyone has seen any Illinois census listings for a Lydia Borker or maybe Booker or Baker? She is listed in the 1870 census for Barry County, Missouri, as being 75-years-old and living with Eliza and Urbin Sumpter. Eliza may have been born in Illinois. In the 1860 census for Johnson County, Arkansas, where Eliza and Urbin lived at the time, is shown a listing for a daughter, aged 8, living with them, named Lydia. She does not show up in the 1870 census, but I suspect she was named for the 75-year-old Lydia Borker, who does show up. It says the elderly Lydia Borker was born in Tennessee, but I know not where. If she was 75 in 1870, I guess that would mean she was born in 1795. Thanks in advance for your help, Simone Smith HatsAndHandFans@Yahoo.Com Dan Wych <dwych@tcon.net> wrote:There are 29 Hargis in the north IL section of the 1930 census index. No Eliza. Dan Simone Smith wrote: > Hello, > > I'm looking for an Illinois census listing for an Eliza A. Hargis and her parents. She is listed in census records as having been born in Illinois, but I don't know where, and I don't have names for her parents. She seems to have been born in 1828, and if the Washington County, Missouri, marriage records have the right date, she married in 1839, which would have made her only 11 when she married. Her husband was Urbin Sumpter. > > Thanks in advance for your help, > > Simone Smith HatsAndHandFans@Yahoo.Com > ==== IL-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== Listowner may be reached at: IL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-ADMIN@ROOTSWEB.COM ============================== Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
