Has everyone heard that Ancestry is closing down the Rootsweb mailing lists in March? Is the admin of this list going to try and migrate the group somewhere else? We have started a new Idaho Genealogy message board/mailing list at "Groups.io" ( https://groups.io/g/IdahoGenealogy ) We want to place links to any county groups or specialized Idaho lists or groups on the home page. Of Course, anyone interested in Idaho genealogy is encouraged to join this new group I hope to hear from you RandyC

Hello, I am wondering if this list is still active. If so is there anyone who is researching the surname TREGONNING from Cornwall, England. If there is I would like to get in touch with them. I am looking for a father and son who are supposed to have gone to Nevada but they seem to have disappeared. A James TREGONNING who came from the same town in Cornwall also went to Nevada and he seems to have moved on to Idaho. Daniel TREGONNING my ancestor's cousin also emigrated to Idaho and lived at Wardner. He later emigrated to Australia but a daughter of his died at Clearwater. Hoping to hear from someone who has an interest in this surname. Regards, Christine
I don't have info on this death; however, I have had good result in contacting the local library to ask if they can scan the news of Avery on your behalf. Some libraries are eager to help, and all libraries would welcome a donation, if they don't have a charge for the service. Some will mail copies, and some will email copies. Good luck! Jo

I have a great-uncle William Becker who settled in Wallace, Idaho. I am curious about him because he left his large family in Kansas by himself for Idaho. Little about him says that he ran a silver mine there. We have very little information about him. I believe he arrived in Wallace between 1885 and 1895. He married a Caroline, who died in 1912. He re-married Ada who had a daughter, Dorothy Boyer, and I think a son, Bert Boyer. William died in Wallace in 1935. I don't know the cemetery name. He never had children of his own. Does any of this ring a bell for anyone?
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mr. W. R. WILLIAMS and Mrs. Amy WILLIAMS which was taken at the Jno A. Young Studio in La Cygne or Pleasanton, Kansas. The photograph is dated Winter of 1887 with couple appearing to be in their 30's or 40's at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to their names and the date, someone has also written "J. S. KEENEY, Pullman, WA" along with instructions for an additional photograph of Mrs. WILLIAMS including a drawing of her dress. In addition to this photograph I also have a series of four additional photographs belonging to the KEENEY Family who I believe are connected through Mrs. WILLIAMS and her daughter Estella from a first marriage. Based on limited information I was able to locate the following information regarding the couple: William Riley WILLIAMS was b. 4 Jun 1835 in Franklin Co. IL to parents John Richardson WILLIAMS (b. 8 Apr 1808 in Nashville or Memphis, TN) and Sarah ADAMS (b. 1 Sept 1812 in KY). William was one of 12 children born to this couple including, Elizabeth A.; William Riley; Mariam; Thomas Marion; Zebedee Brandon; Sarah Jane; Augustus M.; John J.; Harriet Sophie; Samantha Leona; Elvira N.; and Mary A. "Polly" WILLIAMS. The children were born between 1830 and 1854 in Franklin County, IL and MO. William married Amy FAIRCHILD b. 25 Jan 1853 in Augusta, IL and died 10 Jan 1909 in Hatton, WA. Amy FAIRCHILD was the daughter of Roswell FAIRCHILD (b. 1 Jan 1811 in NY) and Maria DeWitt WINFIELD (b. 22 Mar 1818 in Ulster Co. NY). Amy's first marriage was to J. W. MORRISON in 1871 in Linn Co. KS and her second marriage to William Riley WILLIAMS on 13 Nov 1876 in Linn Co. KS. Amy died in 1922 in Clarkia, ID. Census records provide the following information: 1870 census of Valley Township, KS: William WILLIAMS, age 39, a Farmer, born IL Elvira WILLIAMS, age 33, Keeping House, born MO John R. WILLIAMS, age 11, a Farmer, born KS Imery J. WILLIAMS, age 9, at Home, born KS Mary WILLAIMS, age 5, at Home, born KS Anna B. WILLIAMS, age 2, at Home, born KS Mary J. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Charles B. KELLER of Mullan, Idaho. The photograph is dated 15 Jan 1912 with Mr. KELLER appearing to be in his 40's or 50's at the time. I was able to locate Charles in census records as follows: 1910 census of Morning, ID: Charles B. KELLER, a boarder, age 49, 2nd marriage 14 years, born OH, parents born Switzerland/NY, a Lead Mine Miner I am hoping to locate someone from this KELLER Family so that the photograph can be returned to his family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
I've "rescued" an old photograph with the name Roberta TOPLIFF written on the back of the photograph along with an address in Wallace, Idaho. The photograph is of a young child, a girl about 2 years old and was taken at the Florence E. Potter Studio in Grand Junction, Colorado, likely sometime in the early 1900's. In addition to the name and address, someone has written "Please be sure to return this photo" on the back. Based on limited research I was able to find the family in census records as follows: 1900 census of Littlefield, ID: Myrone TOPLIFF, age 39, born Sept 1860, married 13 years, born WI, parents born NY, a Carpenter Annie TOPLIFF, wife, age 29, born Sept 1870, married 13 years, born UT, parents born England Roberta TOPLIFF, dau, age 11, born 1888, born WA, at School George D. TOPLIFF, son, age 18, born WA Lilian RANINS, age 34, born WI, parents born OH Based on the census information, I don't believe that this is a photograph of Roberta but likely a member of her family. I am hoping to locate someone from the family so it can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this TOPLIFF Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Hi Kate, I really don't have any info for you but I have a question. Is this ROSS related to Emma and Elmer ROSS who homesteaded in Kellogg area around 1900 or a little later? I'm doing a house history on the house (and property) I was born in at Kellogg. The land was originally homesteaded by Elmer ROSS his wife was Emma DERBYSHIRE (her first marriage surname). Just wondering............... Thanks.
