We have started a new Idaho Genealogy message board/mailing list at "Groups.io" ( https://groups.io/g/IdahoGenealogy ) We want to place links to any county groups or specialized Idaho lists or groups on the home page. 1. [IDPOWER] BROCKETT Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the BROCKETT Family of Idaho including one of Ella BROKETT with Avo CUSHMAN which was taken at the Van Graven Studio in Nampa, ID in 1903. I believe that this is Ella E. JONES BROCKETT. The second photograph is of Ella's sons Dale & Claire BROCKETT taken at the same studio in 1905, the year that Ella died. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Ella Eliza JONES was b. 9 Jun 1873 or 1875 in Raymond, IL and married Irving Townsend BROCKETT (born 20 Jul 1869 in Brownsville, IL - d. 1953) on 16 Apr 1895 in Wayne Co. IL. The couple had two sons, Dale and Claire BROCKETT. Ella died 25 Apr 1905 and is buried in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, ID. Avo or Ava R. WINTERSTEIN was b. 1 Jul 1874, she married Charles I. CUSHMAN (b. 10 May 1869 in Polo, IL) on the 11th of Jan 1893 in Nampa, ID and died in October 1970 in Nampa, ID at the age of 96. Dale Edison BROCKETT was b. 1 Feb 1896 in Fairfield or Springfield, IL and married Naomi J. PEEBLES (b. 5 Dec 1901 in IL-1976) on 15 Sept 1922 in San Diego, CA. The couple had two children, Dale E. BROCKETT b. 1924, and Claire Irving BROCKETT b. 13 Aug 1925, both born in Santa Ana, CA. Dale died 13 Jun 1957 in Orange County CA and is buried in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA Claire Baldridge BROCKETT was b. 23 Nov 1897 in Pocatella, ID and married twice, first to Helen Marie TORESON (b. 5 Aug 1909 in MT) in about 1925, and second to Lenore A. (b. 17 Jul 1908 in IL) sometime later. It does not appear that Claire had any children. Claire died 16 Feb 1966 in San Diego, CA and is buried in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Census records provide the following information regarding these individuals: 1880 census of Sappa Township, Harlan Co, NE: Charles H. A family tree posted by judeelynne: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/28540258/person/12188413771?ssrc= identified the father as William "Bill" Matison Pennington, born 26 June 1879 in Martinsburg, Elliott Co, KY, died 16 Oct 1940 in American Falls, ID. He married Cynthia Rowe(or Roe) on 24 Dec 1903. They had children: --David "Oliver" Pennington, born 18 Oct 1904 in Kentucky, died 27 Mar 1974 in Kellogg, Shoshone Co, ID. He married Roxie Frieda McNurlen in 1933. She died 1999. --Virginia "Virgie" L. Pennington, born 26 March 1907 in Evergreen, Langlade Co, Wisconsin. She married Harry Elmer Caudill about 1925. They had two daughters, "Private" and Edna 1927-1981. *--Mary Alice Pennington, born about 1909 in Evergreen, Langlade, WI. --Jessie Merle or Muriel Pennington Sparks, male born 17 April 1911, in Elton, Langlade, WI, died 7 Feb 1969 in American Falls, Power Co, ID. Cynthia died June 1911 in Elton --Another tree indicated that Mary was in Victoria, Victoria Texas in 1972, her husbands last name was "Wofford." The 1910 Census of Evergreen, Langlade Co, WI, owned the home. William M. Pennington, age 31, born in KY to father born in Kentucky, mother in Virgina, Teamster/Lumbering, married 6 years. Cynthia, 31, born in KY, mother of 3/3 living David O, 5 Virgie L, 3 Mary A, 1 1/12. The Census was enumerated on 26 May, so if correct, Mary was born about April 1909. Western States Marriage Index: 1919: William M. Pennington, married Maude Rodman, in Teton County, Idaho Idaho Death Index: William Matis Pennington, born 26 June 1879, died 17 Oct 1940 in American Falls, Power Co, ID. He is buried in Power County: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=pennington&GSfn=william&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=15&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=61976288&df=all& ------Mary Pennington------- The 1920 Census for American Falls, Power County, Idaho Richard Noth [sic], age 40, born in Wisconsin to father born in Germany, mother in Wisconsin, Medical Doctor/General Practice Genevieve, age 40, born in Ireland, immigrated 1883/Naturalized 1899 Mary, Adopted Daughter, age 10, born in Wisconsin to both parents born in Kentucky Lloyd, nephew, age 3 6/12, born in Idaho to father born in Wisconsin, mother in Kentucky Albert, father (of Richard), age 76, born in Germany, immigrated 1852. She had two roomers, neither was Mary. -----Mary G. Wofford----- One family tree owned by a LindaKolar, identifies a Mary G. Noth, born 14 March 1910 in Louisville, KY, dau of Richard F. Noth and Genivieve O'Donald as being married to a Wofford, death in Victoria, TX. --this is all the information shown. So, basically there is NO proof to connect this Mary to the Noth family, or to being the correct Mary Pennington. I am leaving this "connection" for you, but I would do a lot of research to prove/disprove this person before accepting it. --The Social Security Death Index shows a Mary N. (Noth?) Wofford, born 14 March 1910 [the 1910 Census "indicated" a March 1909 date for Mary Pennington] died 14 Nov 1996 in Victoria, Victoria Co, TX. There is NO PROOF this is the correct person, additional research MUST be done to prove/disprove. This person's SSN 451-24-8915 was issued in Texas before 1951. Public Records show Mary N. Wofford, born 14 March 1910 at 2404 E. Colorado St, Victoria, TX. Also at this address is Herman H. Wofford, no DOB shown. Both of them also at 214 Monterrey Dr, Victoria, TX. ------------------ Here is a book that might identify some further information. It does identify Mary adopted by Dr. Richard Noth, but little additional online. It is from the Pennington pedigrees, Volune 35-36 from the Pennington Research Association: http://books.google.com/books?id=IVxVAAAAMAAJ&q="richard noth"&dq="richard noth"&hl=en&ei=PUboTqrCOer30gHE8IiYCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CFAQ6AEwBDgK Leads: I'd first attempt to obtain the obituary of Genevieve Noth. She would be the most logical to have Mary identified. Genevieve died in 1961. If Mary is not listed, that in itself does not mean Mary had died. I'd suggest you first contact the cemetery where she was buried, it might have some records, and would be the quickest search. Then, try the obits of her siblings. American Falls is a small town. The local library "might" be able to help. Most libraries can not do research, or research for person out of town; but, it's worth a try. http://library.public-libraries.org/Idaho/AmericanFalls/AmericanFallsDistrict.html The Power County Historical Society and Museum. They "might" be able to help. But, if they have a museum, they are probably more dedicated to it and collecting information. Once you find the Noth family, they'd probably be interested...but give them a try: http://www.co.power.id.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=104:historical-society-a-museum&catid=91:historical-society-a-museum I did find the American Falls Press (newspaper) online, but there is no issue for 1922, 1961. She was born Mary Pennington to William and Cynthia Pennington, but when her mother passed away she was adopted by a family by the name of North. I was told that they lived in southern Idaho, probabably around power county, and Mr. North was a Doctor. I was told that they might have moved to Texas. I am guessing at her birth date which would be somewhere around 1907-19010 in Kentucky, probably Elliott county. she had two brothers, David and Jesse, and a sister Virginia. Helen MacDonald came from Scotland, lived in Wales for a while and went to Sussex as did her parents and siblings. Somewhere between 1897 (when Helen was 21)and when she married Aleck in 1917 she was married to a gentleman by the name of Power (I don't know his first name or anything about him)and he died. (Helen said she was a widow on her 2nd marriage certificate) I have tracked some posibilites which I have put on the tree for now but may alter them is I can find some more substantial info. The is a trip - Argentina, River Plate to Southampton with a Mrs Power and Mr J Power. I have then found a James Power on the census living not far from Helen in Sussex who died abt 1907. I can't prove its the ones I am looking for and rather doubtful. Kindest regards Tess Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Is there any reason you thought they lived in Power County, Idaho, USA? I looked under Macdonald, Power and Hazel and didn't find any one of them in Power Co., ID. Do you have her, Henry or Emily's obituaries? Was her childhood mentioned in hers? Was she mentioned in Henry or Emily's? I found a family tree on ancestry for Henry and Emily and family and asked the author to contact you. However, Elda wasn't included on that family tree. I wonder if she was an orphan from another Lish family? Oneida County doesn't seem to have a genealogy or historical society either. Have you contact the Idaho State Historical Society, www.idahohistory.net/ ? They do research and have a collection that covers the entire state. Successful Searching!
