Although an immediate search was commenced for the youngster’s body it was not recovered until 11 a.m. Saturday morning a comparatively short distance away below where the lad had fallen into the water. Dennis Lynn was born in Payette Oct. 11, 1942. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister Leane and two brothers, Warren and Ronald, and his grandfather, N. P. Rasmussen of Burley. Funeral rites were held at the Landon-Shaffer funeral home Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock with Bishop Leonard Pease of the L. D. S. church in charge. Interment was at Rosedale Memorial Park. According to the story told by the father to coroner Gifford Shaffer, Dennis was playing on the bridge with a jug of water while his parents were working in a field nearby. The father said the youngster made no outcry as he fell into the water and therefore believes that his head may have struck a protruding stick to knock him unconscious. The parents immediately began a search for the missing youngster and notified authorities in town. The fire department was called out and firemen spent most of the rest of the evening and night patrolling banks of the canal looking for the youngster. The water was later turned out of the canal to aid in the search.
