Bartie Lee Sloper, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Sloper, of Payette, died of spinal menengitis, on Friday, Feb. 2, 1899, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Little Bartie had been sick only a few days. He would have been 9 years old had he lived until the 5th of next May. Rev. J. R. Yost, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the funeral Saturday afternoon. The afflicted parents have the heartfelt sympathies of the people of this community where they but recently came to reside.
