She was born in Kansas Jan. 4, 1874, and came to Payette in 1947 from Twin Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1954. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Christine Hardy of Salt Lake City, Utah; one son, Melvin M. Swab of Winnemucca, Nev.; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at the Shaffer Memory Chapel for Mrs. Mary Emily Coy Howerton, 81, of Payette, a resident here for ten years. The Rev. Martin Torrence will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Howerton died in her home late Tuesday evening following a long illness. She was born Dec. 28, 1976, in Greensburg, Mo. and was married in 1902 at Edina, Mo. to Hugh A. Howerton. They moved here form Hurland, Mo. She was a member of the Christian church of Payette. Surviving are her husband, and a son, Hugh T. Howerton, of Payette; two daughters, Mrs. Merle Cloud of Ontario and Miss Pauline Howerton of Payette; a brother, Lee Coy of Brashear, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Ba?e Golden of Kirksville, Mo., Mrs. Roselle White and Mrs. Nell Smith, both of Hurland, Mo., and Mrs. Roy Little of Edina, Mo.; one grandson and four great grandchildren.

Ralph G. Daudt, a returned soldier were held at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Riverside cemetery by the National Guard unit under the direction of the Shaffer Memory Chapel, Rev. A. F. Lienkaemper officiating. Private Daudt was born in Clelley, Nebr., May 13, 1921, and lived in Payette for 1939 until he entered the service in 1942. He was killed in action in the Normandy invasion, June 15, 1944. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Daudt, of Payette, four brothers, Charles, Herbert, and Raymond of Payette and Elmer of Portland, Ore.

Rev. Hayden Abel of the First Baptist church officiated. Mrs. Jim died last Wednesday following a lingering illness. She was born Sept. 4, 1884, at Odessa, Wash. She was reared in the Odessa area, coming to Idaho as a young woman. She had lived in New Plymouth the past 13 years. She was married to Tony Jim at Weiser in 1957. She was a member of the Christian church. She is survived by her husband, Tony, of New Plymouth, one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son. Monroe Smock at 809 Third Avenue North, when Mr. Perry James of Fruitland and Miss Doris Maud Boyer of Payette were joined in the bonds of holy wedlock, with the simple ring ceremony that has come down to us through many past generations. The merry couple repaired to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Boyer, where a delicious wedding breakfast was served. J. Jackson on February 6th at three o'clock, when their eldest daughter Mildred Opal, became the wife of Denver Dayton Nichols. The girlish bride was attired in white silk trimmed with pink and white rose buds, while the groom wore conventional black. Rev. Farnham of Payette officiated. A luncheon was served immediately after the ceremony, the Jolly Six assisted in serving. About 47 guests were present. Among those from a distance were Dr. Prinzing and wife from Ontario, Mr. and Mrs. H. Qualls from Weiser, R. H. Woods and wife and C. P. Lattig and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Nichols left Wednesday evening for Ontario, Ore. The bride grew from babyhood to womanhood in this valley and was loved by all who knew her and the best wishes of everyone will follow her to her new home wherever that may be. Emigh, 70, a well known local carpenter died at his home here Wednesday of last week following a long illness. Funeral services were held at the Shaffer Memory Chapel Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Harold Jacks of the Church of God officiating. Interment was in Riverside cemetery. John Jacob Emigh was born in Pawnee county, Nebr., March 21, 1878. He was married in Meda L. Johnson in Jewell county, Kansas 41 years ago. Besides his wife Meda, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Formosa, Kans., and several nieces and nephews. Independent Enterprise Payette, Idaho Thursday, November 18, 1948 Funeral Services Held Saturday Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Shaffer Memory Chapel in this city for John Jacob Emigh, who passed away in this city on Wednesday of last week. Rev. Harold Jacks had charge of the service and interment was made at Riverside. John Emigh was 70 years of age at the time of his death and had been ill over a considerable period of time. Deceased was a native of Pawnee county, Nebraska, March 21, 1878 and was married 42 years ago to Meda L. Johnson at Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Emigh moved to Payette 17 years ago and for sometime the former followed carpentry. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Meda Emigh, of Payette; one sister, Mary Johnson of Formosa, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.

Born Loretta Brennan in Minnesota in May 1892, she came to Payette in 1916 where she taught school for one year. She was married to Fred M. Moss in June 1917 and lived here since. Mrs. Moss was an early member of Portia Club and of the Payette Chapter of the American Red Cross in which she worked actively during World War 11. A lifetime member of the Catholic Church, she was president of the first Alter Society to be organized in Holy Family Parish and was active in church work throughout most of her life. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Fred M. Moss, are one son, Robert B. Moss of Payette; one daughter, Mrs. W. T. (Dorathy) Ingersoll of Los Angeles; four grandchildren, and seven sisters, Mrs. Mary McShane, Mrs. Alfred Phenix, Mrs. R. M. Hadrath, Mrs. Merwin Leonard, and the Misses Claire, Florence and Blanche Brennan, and one brother, Robert Brennan, all living in Minnesota. Recitation of the Rosary was Wednesday night at 7:30 at the Shaffer Memory Chapel in Payette. The Rev. Fr. Merwin Nuxoll was celebrant at the Requiem Mass offered this morning and interment followed at Riverside cemetery at Payette under the Shaffer Chapel in charge.

F. Huff Sunday May 14 Funeral services for B. F. Huff were held in the Methodist Church Sunday, May 14 at 1:30 o’clock conducted by the Rev. L. G. Fraser and Rev. C. O. Heath. Previous to the funeral services the Masonic lodge held their ceremonies at the Masonic hall and attended in a body. The Methodist quartet sang two numbers. Benjamin Franklin Huff was born near Little Sioux, Iowa, on August 22nd, 1866, where he grew to manhood. He was engaged in the drug store business during his youth in Missouri Valley, Iowa. On September 20th, 1891, he was united in marriage to Ruby Amy Hefford of Magnolia, Iowa and to this union one child was born, Lenora Huff, a teacher in the Lodi, California schools. Mr. Huff served Harrison county as County auditor for several years after his marriage, then coming to Payette to make his home. Here he took over the management of the Payette Equity Exchange and later owned the Cash Feed Store. He was well known in Payette and highly respected by those who came in contact with him. He was a member of the Washoe Lodge No. 28 A. F. & A. M., also a Royal Arch Mason and a member of the Eastern Star to which he was faithful in attendance until health would not permit. Besides his wife and daughter he is survived by one sister Mrs. Clara Weston of Baker, Oregon and two brothers, Dr. J. W. Huff also of Baker, and T. C. Huff of Haines, Oregon. The body was taken to Logan, Iowa, for burial, where the Masonic lodge will conduct the services at the grave.

Riley Kansas, owing to their excellent ability as trained nurses, have been chosen by the Major-General out of several hundred nurses, to go to France. They are now at New York City and will soon take their departure.
