    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Alden Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5d.2ADI/2001 Message Board Post: Payette Independent Payette, Idaho Thursday, August 17, 1899 More Prospective Settlers We have been permitted to read a letter received by Mr. A. E. Wood, which indicates that the North Dakota town from which the name was written is taking a lively interest in the Payette Valley and is going to furnish us a number of families in the near future. Mr. John Alden, the writer, who recently made a trip through the west, returning to his Dakota home Aug. 1st, says: “I saw lots of county, but none I liked better than at Payette, and have made up my mind to settle there as soon as I can get away from here.” Mr. Alden says many others are shaping their affairs preparatory to moving to Idaho with the view of purchasing homes in the Payette Valley. He gives the names of several parties who expect to come out the coming fall, and writes for additional information concerning this locality, prices of town and farm property and other matters of interest to parties who contemplate making a change.
