Sorenson, died August 19, 2003 of cancer in St. George, Utah. Born February 13, 1924 in Malad. Idaho to Josephine Gardner and Chauncey L. Sorenson. Following graduation from Malad High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Corps and was stationed in England. Fred was a tail gunner on a B-17 Bomber and on a raid over Berlin received enemy fire, the plane was crippled and they had to land behind enemy lines in Poland. Fred married Betty Williams on December 31, 1945 in Salt Lake City. Later divorced. They have two daughters. He attended Idaho State University and graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. He joined the Upjohn Company as a Medical Service Representative where he worked for 33 years . During his employment with the Upjohn Company, he received many awards and in 1977 was awarded the W.E. Upjohn Award, which is the highest award given by the Upjohn Company. Fred retired in 1982. Fred was a passenger on the United Airlines 727 plane that crashed at the S! L Airport on November 11, 1965. Forty five of the Ninety passengers died in that crash. Married Ann Chadwick on September 25, 1974 in Salt Lake City. Upon their retirement they divided their time between their home in St. George and their beautiful Eagle Rock Ranch in Bedford, WY. Fred learned to paint and became a master painter in both oils and water color. Many of his works of art were given to family and friends who cherish them. Member of the LDS Church. Fred was a master teacher and served on the High Council. He was dearly loved by all of the youth whose lives he touched through teaching them the Gospel. He was a great neighbor and friend. Survived by, wife, Ann; daughters, Sherri (Jon) London; Shauna (Steve) Jackson; two step-sons, Kirk (Susi) Chadwick; Kim (Machelle) Chadwick; 12 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren; brother, Leon Sorenson; sister, Leyonda DeLacy. Preceded in death by three sisters, Anieta, Bobbie, Sue and a step-son Brent. Funeral services wi! ll be held Friday, August 22, 2003, 11 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills 2nd Ward, 750 E. Fort Pierce Drive, St. George, Utah. Friends may call at the Bloomington Hills 2nd Ward, Thursday, August 21, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Funeral services will also be held Saturday, August 23, 2003, 12:00 noon at the Brighton 2nd Ward, 2561 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) where friends may call from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors, Cannon Mortuary.
